Al Gore And The Trappings Of Fame And Wealth

Recently, an article on the Tenessean.com detailed the latest acquisition of our favorite tree hugger, Al Gore. I'm no supporter of Al Gore or his diatribes regarding the fictitious condition of Global Warming, but the question arises about the character of a man who after preaching this mantra for almost two decades or more does he really believe what he says?

There are many people who have taken similar positions on various topics that can be considered life-altering if their ideas were implemented, and in preaching their mantras, they also led by example... they did walk the walk.

As of late, it has become blatantly apparent to many people that politicians, both in and out of office and on both sides of the aisle are more self-serving than they are about doing the 'People's' business. Its obvious I know... for years it was fairly veiled by the media with a wink and a nod, but many people still don't see it (Supporters of Barack Obama, Hillary & Bill Clinton, etc...). We can debate McCain's desires as well, though his nomination was more an effort on the Democrat's part, but that's another post altogether.

In Al Gore's case, he has taken his self-service, and need for self-importance to the extreme. There are many who support Mr. Gore and his message, but they either fail, or refuse, to see the shortcomings of the man's character. If he were truly of the belief that what he has been lecturing the world on ad infinitum, he would live accordingly... and NOT seek to profit enormously from the his position. I won't begrudge someone for amassing a vast fortune be it in business, a form of artistry, or any other honorable and legitimate endeavor, more power to them.

However, in this case a crisis is manufactured with all the earmarks of clear deception that bears a sort of malice of forethought, along with the clear motivation to profit from the deception. Currently, Mr. Gore is heavily invested in companies that purport to be in the business of developing "green" technologies, who are also the same companies he promotes as the focus that governments should invest in to help further a more "carbon free" world. In most honest circles... even legal ones... this would be considered a conflict of interest. T. Boone Pickens is also furthering an agenda with similar rhetoric that would benefit his heavily invested "wind" projects.

In addition, Mr. Gore directs his rhetoric to world leaders more directly than to the masses in general without any consideration of the impact his campaign will have on the those who are affected by the decisions of these leaders. "Green" programs that drive up food and energy prices in all its forms, compounded by confiscatory taxes to "curb" usage, but funding ever more government programs, thus when the curbs do occur... the powers that be see the shortfall in revenue, then compound the taxpayers with more taxes to make up for the shortfall. This is an absolute recipe for disaster, as well as a return to the old days of socialist government that inevitably crushed itself under its own weight.

With outrageous ideas such as the U.S. funding of abortions in third world nations in order to prevent overpopulation... basically preemptively slaughtering wholesale populations of what amount to in numbers nations themselves, is outrageously elitest and projects a form of inhumanity not seen since the 1940's.

Anyone who profits from ideas that bring suffering to others in the name of "the greater good" as it was called in the past... but now its "for the good of the planet"... is someone who should be feared... "for the greater good of humanity".
